Travel Alberta commissioned a combined film and photography project with Will Gadd, whose connection to the area gives the work its point of view. Frozen waterfalls and deep winter gorges become more than dramatic scenery: they are places known through years of climbing.
A person inside the landscape.
The stills move from the scale of the ice to the details of a day out: tools, clothing, concentration and a climber’s expression between pitches. Portraits and action photographs complement the film, giving the assignment a broader visual record of the place and the person guiding us through it.
