The story

For Lilac’s brand launch, Ted produced, directed and photographed a film connecting direct lithium extraction with the people developing it. The assignment moved between the company’s Great Salt Lake pilot plant and its Oakland factory and headquarters, with executive portraits made alongside the film.

The technology, made visible

Lilac’s ion exchange process extracts lithium directly from brine. Interviews, laboratory work and industrial environments give the story a human scale, connecting the science to the work of bringing a new technology into the world.

Film and photography together

The commission included environmental portraits and corporate headshots of Lilac’s executive team. Moving between motion and stills gave the brand launch both a company narrative and photographs of the people behind it.
