The photographs
From alpine starts to evenings on the water. Explore the winter and summer collections.
A place, brought indoors.
Desolation Hotel commissioned a custom wall-art series rooted in the landscape around it. The work takes the viewer beyond the property and into the country that gives the hotel its name: granite basins, mountain ridgelines and the water of Lake Tahoe. A collection made for guests to live with, and a glimpse of what waits outside.
Two seasons. One landscape.
Winter meant 2 a.m. starts and days exploring the backcountry for first light. Summer brought time on the lake and long hikes into Desolation Wilderness. Together, the photographs move between the scale of the Sierra and the simple pleasure of being there: a ski turn, a paddleboard, the last light on the water.
